With the success of the 80's, Michael Jackson started to work an
his new album after the end of the Bad World Tour he quit working with producer
Quincy Jones and hired Teddy Riley from Blackstreet. Riley was
well know for defining the swingbeat. The new team created a
brand new sound. On November 11, 1991, the first single was
released, Black Or White. 3 days later the famous
11-minute short film premiered. It featured a brand new visuall
effect, called morphing. This short film included the
panther-sequence, which started a worldwide discussion and was
then banned from TV-screens.George Wendt (from US-TV-series Cheers)
and Macauley Culkin (Home Alone) also starred in the
video. The single became #1 all over the world.
Also the
album entered the charts and went to #1, selling 17 million
copies in its first 18 month. Remember The Time was the
second single, released with a 12-minute short film that featured
a major dancing sequenze and stars like the two basketball heroes
Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, also Eddie Murphy and
supermodel Iman.The single went to #3 on the Pop Charts and #1 on
the R&B Charts.
The album spinned off more top singles. In The Closet, Jam
(short film featured Michael Jordan, Kriss Kross, Heavy D), the beautiful Heal
The World, Who Is It, Will You Be There, Give
In To Me (short film featuerd Slash) and Gone Too Soon
(last two not in US).
On June
27, 1992, Michael Jackson kicked off the world tour: For more

On
January 31, 1993, Jackson appeared on TV during the Super Bowl
XXVII Halftime show perfroming Heal The World. He drew
the largest American viewing audience in TV history. He also did
a prime time interview with Oprah Winfrey that was viewed by more
than 100 million people (February 10). 1.2 billion people
worldwide saw him accepting the Living Legend Award and
performing at the 35th Grammy Awards (Februray 24). Michael
appeared on the Soul Train Music Awards, received the
Humanitarian of the Year Award and was also honored for Best
R&B Single (Remember The Time) and Best R&B
Album (Dangerous), later he performed Remember The
Time because of an ankle injury from a wheelchair (March
19).
Michael
showed the world once more with this unbelieveable album, who the
King Of Pop is!
