MJ at the World Music Awards?
Producer Gary Pudney said in his interview with USA Today (see news from January 21) also this: Michael Jackson will receive an award as the "World's Best-Selling Pop Artist of the Millennium" at the World Music Awards 2000 (to be held on May 10, 2000). Pudney says that Michael may perform a song from his new album during the show.

The Nightmare of Edgar Allan Poe
Producer Gary Pudney was interviewed by US-newspaper USA Today. Pudney talked about Michael Jackson's upcoming movie project, "The Nightmare of Edgar Allan Poe". "His whole new thrust is going to be films," says Pudney. "He has sold the most records, made the most money on tours, and this is the one genre he has the desire to excel in." He also said the MJ may doe a title track for the movie. Pudney gave details about the script to USA Today: "In 1849, Poe was found dead at age 40 after a mysterious disappearance. The focus will be on the characters from his writings returning to haunt him in his last days. There's a love interest -a teen girl- and a number of star cameos."

One more time with Bruce Swedien
Michael Jackson is working on his new album once again with his long-time partner Bruce Swedien. The sound engineer recorded Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and HIStory but was not able to join MJ for Blood On The Dance Floor due to other projects. "The Walrus" Swedien is on of the most famous engineers in business and received 3 Grammy's for Best Sound Engineer of the year (Thriller - Bad - Dangerous). According to statments the 66-year-old Swedien is working with his favorite artist.

The AMA (American Music Awards) held an internet poll to find out the best of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s. Michael Jackson was was nominated in "The 1980's Artist of the Decade"-category with Gloria Estefan, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Prince, and Bruce Springsteen. That day the AMA's were broadcasted on US-TV-staion ABC, the winners were announced. Jackson triumphed in the 80s cateogry

The Jacksons record reunion album
- Company Press Release - Friday January 14, 2000:

Modern Records, Inc. announced today that The Jacksons are in the studio recording their new album. The band and the Company has picked 7 songs to date for the new album which is scheduled to be released on the Modern Records label in the summer of 2000.[...] Randy Jackson says; "We are gearing up for a busy schedule in the year of 2000 and The Jacksons and Abel Mason will play an integral part of our success. Frank Dileo to write book about MJ?
There were a few rumours in medias the last days that reported that Frank Dileo, Michael Jackson's ex-manager, wants to write a book about his partnership with the king of pop. Dileo was MJ's manager in 80's for 5 years. VIVA-TV in germany said that he wants to reveal details about MJ's realtion to children. Note: Those are just rumours in medias - MJW does not know if this is true.

BET selected Thriller as #2
Black Entertainment's special show "Notorized : BET's Top 100 Videos of the Century" featured as the #1 video the famous "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr (Dr. King to thousands of people that gathered in Washington, D.C. in 1963). Pictures of these speech are also included on Michael's "Man In The Mirror" video. Michael Jackson's Thriller was picked as the #2 video of the 20th Century (the top music video on BET's list).
BET will rebroadcast the program on January 17 from 9 AM to 9 PM ET.

Jackson-Song "The Lady In My Life" covered by Marc Nelson
Marc Nelson, who has recently been called the "New-Millennium Marvin Gaye" by Billboard, has done an updated cover of the Michael Jackson hit "Lady In My Life". The 5:12 min cover version is the 11th track on Nelson's latest album "Chocolate Mood" (COLUMBIA).
