December 27, 1999:

MJ appears in SEGA Dreamcast game
MJIFC reproted today that Michael Jackson performs a special cameo appearance in Tetsuya Mizuguchi's new Sega Dreamcast game "Space Channel 5". Jackson had pereviously cooperated with Sega for the "Moonwalker" game. This time he is more of a supporting character which is focused on singing and dancing. A short description of the game: Towards the end of the game your party come across the singer held captive by the evil Moroliens. After mounting your successful rescue operation your reward is a dance-a-thon with you, your party and the Jackson character. According to Sega the game is currently available in Japan only. It's not known yet if the cameo appearance will also be included in the European and US versions of the Dreamcast game.

December 23, 1999:

Album Release Postponed
Once again, Sony Music has postponed the working release date of Michael's new album. The album tapes won't be ready by January as originally expected. The record company is now hoping to release a single by April, and the album by May or June. The King of Pop is still in New York working on new tracks. To this day, he has recorded 75 new songs for the album.

VIVA's "1999 Poll"
German Music-TV station "VIVA" let fans vote their "Tops & Flops" of the Millenium. Here are the important results, where MJ entered the Top3 (2397 fans were voting):

Song Of The Millenium:
1. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion (11,1%)
2. Like A Virgin - Madonna (10,8%)
3. Thriller - Michael Jackson (9,6%)

Album Of The Millenium:
1. Millenium - Backstreet Boys (15,0%)
2. Thriller - Michael Jackson (14,7%)
3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Hearts Club Band - The Beatles (13,3%)

Michael Jackson was near to enter the Top 3 in the "Star Of The Millenium" category (Won by Robbie Willams (18,3%), 2nd Elvis Presley (14,3%), 3rd Leonardo DiCaprio (12,7%)).

BET's "Top 100 Videos of the Century"
US-TV-station BET (Black Entertainment Television) will announce their "Top 100 Videos of the Century" on December 31, 1999. The 12-hour program will be aired from 11:00am - 11:00pm (Repeat: January 1, 2000).
BET will not say who's the winner until the show but BET Vice President of Music Programming, Stephen Hill, said that it's not Thriller. Michael Jackson's videos, combined with videos by his sister Janet, together comprise 15% of the century's top 100 videos on the BET list.

Billie Jean covered by Ian Brown
Former Stone Roses front man Ian Brown has recorded a cover of "Billie Jean" (1982). The song, written and composed by Michael Jackson (originally released: 1982), will apear as an extra song on his next single Dolphins Were Monkeys. Brown had already played the song on his live shows. U.K. release date: Feb. 7, 2000.

9 Days That Rocked The 90's
MTV Europe aired today a show called 9 Days That Rocked The 90's. Michael Jackson was #9 on the list with his live TV speech from his Neverland Ranch in 1993, where he alleged that he is not a child molester. That year The King of Pop was accused to abuse young boys. It was one of the biggest scandals ever but no one was able to proof ANY wrong or criminal doing by Michael Jackson.

"Beat It" Will Be Part Of The Times Square "Millenium Mix"
Dave Clark, organizer of the millenium party in New York, said in a recent interview that a very special "Millenium Mix" will be played on Times Square on New Year's Eve. The songs included in the mix have been chosen by a poll on the internet.
The Top 10 of the Times Square party includes:

    Michael Lends His Voice to a Video Game Character
    Sega's "Space Channel 5" is a new musical action game for Dreamcast. It features a character named "Space Michael" whose voice is actually done by Michael Jackson. The King of Pop does not sing in the game but talks and does his trademark howling. In "Space Channel 5", you play Ulala, a TV reporter investigating a sudden invasion of aliens in a plot-line similar to Captain Eo. You must save humanity by proving your superior dancing skills to the invaders all while scooping a rival reporter in your effort to get the whole story.

    Motown Christmas
    Right before christmas Motown Records re-released "A Motown Christmas" (original release in 1973,), featuring 25 tracks by The Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Miracles, The Supremes, and Marvin Gaye. A similar christmas album (including 24 tracks) had been released by Motown in 1995. According to an article in the Washington Post the tracks have been digitally remastered.

    Jackson Tribute to Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff
    The new issue of Billboard magazine (Dec. 18) features a tribute to Philadelphia International Records for their 30th Anniversary. The famous record company was founded by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff whose credits include production of the Jacksons' albums The Jacksons and Goin' Places. Michael Jackson paid a tribute to the great musicians by placing an advertisement page in this issue of Billboard (see enclosed picture).
