Jackson Denies Jewelry Retailer's Allegations
Jewelry retail store David Orgell filed a lawsuit against Michael Jackson in Los Angeles Superior Court last Monday. The lawsuit seeks over US$1.4 million claiming that Jackson walked out of the store with an exclusive Constantine wristwatch and later refused invoices for its payment.
Michael Jackson's publicist and spokesman Howard J. Rubenstein has released a press statement refuting claims made in this lawsuit:
"Mr. Jackson denies the allegations made by David Orgell in this meritless lawsuit. Employees of David Orgell delivered the watch to Mr. Jackson for his approval. Those same employees engaged in repeated conversations in which they were advised that a final decision had not been made. It is unfortunate that this merchant is now attempting to take advantage of Mr. Jackson's celebrity in seeking publicity and attempting to force Mr. Jackson to purchase merchandise which was returned to the store months ago. If Orgell continues its practice of allowing customers to take goods from the shop on approval, this should be a warning to all those customers that they may be at risk of being sued if they decide not to purchase those items."

Jackson 5 in Vocal Hall of Fame
The Jackson Five are among the list of inductees of The Vocal Group Hall of Fame & Museum this year. 25 vocal groups from two classes (1999 & 2000) are being inducted this year because the 1999 induction ceremony was postponed. The Jackson Five are among the class of 1999 inductees. The Director of the Hall of Fame & Museum informed MJIFC that the Jackson brothers have been invited to attend the ceremony scheduled to take place at 12 noon on Friday, October 20, 2000. However, it is not yet known which brothers will be attending the ceremony and accepting this honor on behalf of the group. The Museum is also in the process of acquiring Jackson Five memorabilia for exhibition. The first group of inductees (year 1998) include The Supremes, The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills and Nash, among others.
