Just before the start of the second lef of his HIStory World Tour in May 1998, Michael Jackson released a new albm. Blood On The Dance Floor / HIStory In The Mix featured 8 previously unreleased remixes of songs from his 1995 HIStory - Past, Present And Future Book I album and 5 brandnew songs. 2 of the new songs appeared also in MJ's 35-minute short film Ghosts. You can see BOTDF more as promotional & soundtrack album than a real studio album. A few of the new songs were supposed to be on HIStory - Past, Present And Future Book I.

The first single from the album was the title track, Blood On The Dance Floor. It debuted on the #1 spot in the UK and so did the album. The short film to this single was directed by Vince Paterson and Michael Jackson. The album spinned of another single (not in US). HIStory / Ghosts made it to #5 in the UK.

Blood On The Dance Floor / HIStory In The Mix went to Gold in the US and sold 5 million copies worldwide.
